Physical activity and sport is a fundamental element of education and plays a vital role in an individual’s overall physical, emotional and social development and wellbeing.

Sport creates opportunities for students to develop character, confidence, resilience and a sense of self. It helps develop lifelong skills such as teamwork and communication, while increasing self-esteem and reducing stress and anxiety.

New South Wales

• Catholic Schools NSW Sport provides sporting pathways and opportunities for students and staff in NSW Catholic schools ensuring diversity and inclusiveness. Students are given the opportunity to participate in sports in some cases as a Diocese team or via some school inter-diocese competitions. Talented students are provided with the opportunity to obtain higher level representation that may then lead to state and national competitions. These representative pathways ensure that students with talent are identified and offered the opportunity to enhance their ability through development camps, further training and competition. Catholic Schools NSW Sport also support multiclass sports for students with special needs.
