In our schools and homes across the country, our most senior students are preparing to sit their final exams. This is the culmination of years of preparation, dedication and engagement from thousands of students, teachers and parents. I know that this time is filled with mixed emotions – pride from parents, nervousness from students and anticipation from teachers. It reflects the collective effort that is Catholic education.
I want to extend my best wishes on behalf of the NCEC to all students who are approaching or have begun their final exams. This significant milestone is a reminder that preparation, balance and self-care are key for all challenges in life and that nothing is impossible with prayer and trust in God.
Let’s encourage our young people to take time to rest, stay organised, and approach each exam with confidence in the knowledge and skills they have developed. While these exams are important, they do not define their worth or future. There are many pathways to success, and each journey is unique.
For all our teachers, my thoughts are also with you – not just those who taught our senior students but all who have shepherded them through their educational journey. The work and commitment that goes into teaching and preparing our students for life is a true reflection of service. Ensuring that our young people are well formed and given every opportunity to realise God’s plan for them is the vocation of a teacher at its best.
