As I write my final eblast message as the Executive Director of the NCEC the last few weeks have been the usual frenzy of activity that I have come to expect at the helm of the national peak body.
We have been preparing for a gathering of the Catholic Education Leaders Forum taking place on March 6, which coincidently is my last day leading the NCEC. The gathering in Sydney will bring together chief executives, directors and chairs of state and territory authorities, diocesan school systems and RIMPJP educational bodies.
This will be an opportunity to explore the nature of the various accountabilities that we hold as Catholic educators – to the government through the Better Fairer Schools Agreement, to parents as we advocate for fair funding for Catholic education, to the wider church as we understand Catholicity in our schools and to each other as we consider where to in the next phase of our growth as the largest non-government provider of education in Australia.
It is so fitting to complete my tenure surrounded by the leaders from across the wide and diverse landscape of Catholic schools. Leaders who I am proud to have worked alongside and who work tirelessly each and every day for the staff, students and families who trust us to provide them a high quality, accessible, faith-filled, Catholic education.
Thank you to so many of you that I have had the chance to work with these past seven years or longer. I look forward to continuing to watch from the sidelines as the remarkable offering of Catholic education is championed by all who make it a reality in their work every day.
Jacinta Collins
Executive Director
National Catholic Education Commission
