Director of Mission and Operations

The National Catholic Education Commission is the peak national body for Catholic schools in Australia. The NCEC leads advocacy for school education and funding and works closely with state and territory Catholic education commissions and other Catholic education stakeholders. 

This is an opportunity to join a strong and influential organisation and drive the implementation of key strategic priorities of faith, excellence and access. Your work as the Director of Mission will be on the key strategic priority of Faith which focuses on enhancing the capacity of Catholic school communities to be places of faith and mission. Reporting to the Executive Director you will also manage the operations of the Secretariat based in our Sydney office (based in The Rocks).  

The role: 

  • Lead work to achieve the strategic priorities for Catholic education in Australia with a particular focus on the key strategic priority of Faith 
  • Contribute to national education policy 
  • Enhance constructive working relationships with state and territory Catholic education commissions, government and other relevant organisations 
  • Manage secretariat and business operations including governance, HR and finance 
  • Engender a culture that reflects a commitment to the truths and values of the gospel 

Experience: 

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent significant experience in Faith Formation and Religious Education (FFRE) 
  • Extensive operational, team leadership and management experience ideally gained in the government and/or Catholic sector 
  • Proven skills in implementing strategic priorities and the achievement of outcomes 
  • Proven communication and stakeholder management skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, energise, mobilise and inspire to achieve goals and harness skills and talents 
  • Background/experience in faith formation and religious education

Data Analyst

The National Catholic Education Commission is the peak national body for Catholic schools in Australia. The NCEC leads advocacy for school education and funding and works closely with state and territory Catholic education commissions and other Catholic education stakeholders.

This is an opportunity to join a strong and influential organisation and drive the implementation of key strategic priorities of faith, excellence and access. Your work as one of two Data Analysts will be to undertake analysis and interpretation of research results for the NCEC to assist with reports and briefings and the presentation of findings to the executive and other stakeholders. Reporting to the Director of Resources you will work in our Sydney office (based in The Rocks).

The role:

  • Utilise evidence from other jurisdictions in Australia and overseas so that decisions are informed by timely and expert analysis and sound evidence
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of Australian and international research relevant to student achievement, school performance and other education related evidence
  • Actively collaborate with colleagues across the NCEC network to generate evidence-based approaches to common issues
  • Undertake and coordinate high-quality quantitative analysis of education performance and other education-related data 
  • Research aspects of school performance such as productivity, market share, parent and stakeholder options and workforce data
  • Financial modelling and manipulation of funding data to support strategy and engagement with government.

Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in financial modelling, mathematics, statistics or related analytical discipline
  • Proven experience in a research field, in desktop research and an ability to understand the data in an education context
  • Demonstrated aptitude for understanding, manipulating and cleaning complex datasets and using a variety of methods to identify trends
  • Sound interpersonal skills, including the ability to verbally express complex information and ideas in a clear and appropriate manner to non-technical audiences including colleagues and stakeholders;
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience using data presentation software e.g. PowerB1
  • Experience preparing reports and briefings
