The Executive Director of the National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC) Christian Zahra said Catholic education leaders will work with Church leadership to review and respond to the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

“Children’s safety at school is paramount and our education leaders are committed to ensuring the wellbeing and safety of all children in Catholic schools.”

“We deplore the harm caused to children in our schools in the past and the impact this has had on them and on their families, and we acknowledge the courage and integrity of those who have told their stories to the Royal Commission.

“The report will be assessed in detail by the Truth Justice and Healing Council and Catholic education leaders will work locally with their Bishops and the broader Church to respond to the recommendations in the final report.”
