The National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC) will host the Formation for Mission Conference from 22–23 February 2027 at the Catholic Leadership Centre, Melbourne for an anticipated 200 delegates.
This national two-day gathering with the theme, ‘From Purpose to Practice: Exploring Teacher Formation’ will feature a range of keynotes, workshops and masterclass sessions focusing on practices that support, sustain and deepen formation within schools, systems and communities
Who should attend?
This conference is intended for Catholic school and system leaders, religious education and middle leaders, mission and formation staff, clergy and religious, board members, and anyone responsible for faith formation, leadership and mission within Catholic education settings.
Whether you are an aspiring RE leader or an experienced leader, the conference offers a valuable formation experience with practical learning, collaboration and inspiration to support your work of mission and ministry in Catholic education.

Abstract Submissions
Expressions of interest to present at the Formation for Mission Conference are now closed.
Following the review process, prospective presenters will be contacted by email by the end September 2026.

- Submission of abstracts implies the presenter’s agreement to publish the abstract in all conference publications, including the website. Successful abstracts must be presented by the presenter and/or a nominated co-presenter.
- Acceptance of the abstract implies the presenter’s agreement to have their presentation livestreamed, recorded and made available following the conference on the National Catholic Education Commission’s website unless otherwise negotiated.
- Acceptance of abstracts does not imply any payment from the NCEC. Presenters must arrange and pay their own accommodation, travel and other expenses to attend the Conference.
- All presenters must register and pay to attend at least one day of the Conference. Discounted full conference registration is available for successful presenters.
- Applications will be reviewed by a panel of subject matter experts and presenters will be advised in writing of the status of their application.
- An abstract submission may also be waitlisted depending on the availability of sessions. Due to the expected number of submissions, it is not possible to provide feedback on individual abstracts.
- Acceptance or otherwise is at the discretion of the Conference Executive whose decision is final.

A day pass is available for $395 and allows a delegate to attend either day of the conference but does not include the Conference Dinner.

Abstract presenters will be nominated via email by the end of September 2026.
Yes, abstract presenters will be entitled to receive a discounted registration of $545 (which is a $150 saving off the standard registration ticket). A special code will be sent to eligible presenters with the acceptance of their abstract.
Yes. Up to three (3) presenters can be included on the Abstract Submission Form. If more than three (3) presenters are needed for a presentation please email NCEC Events for consideration.
Where permission is granted by presenters, selected resources and presentation materials may be made available to registered delegates following the conference.
Yes, delegates will have an opportunity to advise dietary requirements during the registration process.
The Catholic Leadership Centre has wheelchair accessible entrance, lifts and amenities, as well as an audio loop in the main downstairs rooms, however not in the breakout rooms upstairs.
